DOL Announcement

Last week, the federal Department of Labor announced its highly anticipated proposed rule which would increase the salary level requirements for employees to qualify as exempt for overtime purposes under the federal Fair Labor Standard Act's (FLSA) white-collar exemptions. The new rule would increase the minimum weekly salary for those exemptions from $455 ($23,660 annually) to $679 ($35,308). Now is the perfect time for businesses to consult with their employment law attorney on how this new rule may impact their workplace and pay practices.
